Use the Calculator below to work out your Subscription costs.

Our Membership season runs from 1st April to 31st March. Don’t forget to set the month if joining after the start of the season.

Ages are those at 1st April.   Click button to download an Application Form.

Pro-rata discounts are available for those joining from August 1st *****

Monthly instalments means payments in consecutive months from the month of joining.

We prefer payment by Electronic Transfer (BACS) to Nat West 60-24-21 A/C No. 91005965 – include YOUR NAME as reference.

The Application Form has details of how to pay, however, if you’re an existing member, there’s no need to send in a form.  Just email treasurer@crowthornetennisclub.co.uk to say you’ve paid and include any changes to your contact details.

Family discounts are for family members living at the same address.  Associate and Country Memberships are not included.  It’s 5% for each additional family member up to a maxumum of 12.5%.  (Rounded up to nearest £1).

Affinity Memberships are special subscription rates for pupils, staff and families at St.Sebastians Primary School and also for members and families of the other clubs who are part of St.Sebastians Sports Club.  A discount of 20% is given for the first year of membership and 5% for subsequent years.  (Rounded up to nearest £1).

Associate Membership is intended for those who want to be a member of the club but do not or no longer wish to play tennis. It is intended for parents of junior or mini members, spouses or partners of members or ex-playing members who wish to play a part in the running of the club.

Members who are not playing due to long term injury might like to be an Associate Member to continue to receive Newsletters from the club.  Associate members may attend General Meetings and may sit on the Management Committee but do not have a vote.

NOTE: Associate Membership is a non-playing membership; it is not for parents of junior or mini members who wish to play with their children – the off-peak membership is available for this purpose.

Those joining from August 1st pay an amount which depends on the number of months left in the season to 31st March. For instance, if you join in October, you pay just 50% of a full season’s subscription. Note that, if you join during the peak playing season, April to July, you pay the full subscription.  Pro-Rata discounts do not apply to Associate and Country Memberships. (Rounded up to nearest £1).

If the Total Cost is £100 or over, you may pay by 3 consecutive equal monthly payments as long as the month of joining is December or earlier. Payments may be by Cheques (2 post-dated),  Electronic Transfer (2 post-dated) or 3 Standing Orders. There is no charge for this, however, payments will be rounded up to the nearest £.

For instance, if joining in April, 3 consecutive payments will be due in April, May and June,  it doesn’t mean you pay an instalment every 4 months.

If the Total Cost is £300 or over, you may pay by six consecutive equal monthly payments as long as the month of joining is September or earlier.  Payments may be by Cheques (five post-dated),  Electronic Transfer (five post-dated) or six Standing Orders. If joining in October, November or December, payment may be in three consecutive monthly payments – see above.  There is no charge for this, however, payments will be rounded up to the nearest £.

For instance, if joining in April, 6 consecutive payments would be in April, May, June, July, August and September.

Full Senior Membership includes cost of floodlights and play after 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

Off Peak Senior Membership does not include the cost of floodlights or play after 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

Student or Young Adult Membership is for any student over 18 in Full Time Education and also for any young person between the ages of 19 and 24 on 1st April.

Student or Young Adult Members have the same rights as Full Senior Members.  The same reduced Adult subscription is also available for all Adults with Special Needs on production of a CAN card or equivalent, such as their most recent national government letter confirming that they are in receipt of disability living allowance.

Junior Members who attain a sufficient level of play may be selected to Nominated Junior status with no extra subscription cost.  Nominated Juniors have the same rights as Full Senior Members except that they are not able to attend General Meetings.

Mini Members are not be permitted onto the courts unless either one of their parents or a senior club member is present and accepts full responsibility.

Balls for general play are included within the subscription costs.  The balls provided are usually those previously used for League Matches and Match Practice, however, extra balls are provided if those available are worn out.  These are paid for out of the Match Fee paid by team players for both home and away matches.

New balls will be put into the rack if insufficient playable balls remain. The balls which are no longer suitable for general play are first used by the coach and then sold to an organisation that uses them for charitable purposes and also raises money for various charities.

New balls are also available from the club – click here for more information.

Places must be booked in advance via the Members’ Area and selections will then be confirmed on the morning or evening before the event.  Please do not turn up if you have not been selected as you will be turned away. Players are selected on a first come first serve basis usually in multiples of 4 players.  Note that none of these sessions is suitable for beginners.

  • Note that the Committee tries to accommodate the wishes of members, within the constraints of time and 4 courts, but a session for each ability level is the guiding principle.
    • The Friday session is for recreational and higher players and runs from 6pm to 8pm
    • The Thursday 5:30 session is for intermediate players and runs from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
    • The Thursday 7:30 session is for intermediate and advanced players including potential team players and runs from 7:30 to 9:30pm.
    • The Tuesday session is for advanced players and runs from 7pm to 9pm.
    • In all cases you must commit to the full two hours.
  • Before the session you will have been told by the organiser your starting court, your partner and your opponents.
    • These will take into account each player’s normal playing standard with the best players starting on court 1 and, with 16 players, the least able players on court 4.  However, the organiser may occasionally decide to organise it differently such as a “lucky dip” for starting court & partner.
    • In addition, for the Thursday 7:30 session, the organiser will take into account any pairings for matches at the coming weekend.
  • Play is split into 3 rounds lasting 40 minutes each.  Play 1 set with normal deuce scoring.  If you finish early either carry on or mix in your 4.
    • If you haven’t finished the set after 40 minutes and the scores are level, play a sudden death point
  • At the end of the 40 minutes the winners of the first set played move up a court, the losers move down a court (court 1 is the top court). Winners on the top court stay, as do the losers on the bottom court. If you didn’t finish your set then the pair winning at the time moves up.
  • Pairs then split partners with the pair joining them and you play a second round.
    • Partners are selected by spinning rackets or using common sense to try to get a balanced 4.
  • Exactly the same happens for the third round.

Drop-In club nights are, as the name implies, more informal sessions than the bookable ones and you can arrive and leave when you like.  Those attending organise themselves, changing who plays with whom after most present have completed a set, although there’s often a more senior member present who  will take charge if needed.

We are currently running 2 Drop-In  sessions for all levels from Starter upwards…

  • The Tuesday session has recently been rebranded for All Levels and runs from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  If you want to sit out and watch, maybe with a drink, you can do that too.  If you’ve arrived early for the 7 o’clock session, you’re also welcome to join in.
  • The Wednesday session is for all levels of player including beginner and usually runs from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
    • You can expect members attending adult coaching to join in.
  • The Sunday session is for All levels and runs from 3:00 – 5:00pm.

If you try to duplicate this from the list of popups, it turns into a page.  This is a fault that was flagged up over a year ago but not yet fixed.  There are several ways round, one is…

  • Export popup to a file
  • Import the same file
  • It appears with the same name but different date so change the name.
  • Need to change Display Conditions to Include Entire Site as this is lost.  Otherwise OK.
