January 4 – 3rd full lockdown announced so courts closed until further notice. With everyone encouraged to stay at home unless going to work or for other valid reasons, painting ceases, although, hopefully, some building work can continue.
January 20 – Richard visits the site and the following photos show additional doors fitted, most skirtings fitted plus some joinery in one of the toilets.
January 31 – Richard looked in to see progress while helping with the fencing repair and noted that all joinery now appears to be completed and the floor is ready for vinyl.
June 25 – A fair bit of work has been done unseen to the casual observer but the most obvious change is the installation of the windows and French doors. The main front door, which has a digital coded lock, was installed shortly after.
July – The vinyl flooring was laid late this month and the Vortex sewage processing unit has been lowered into its hole in the ground.
September – These are the latest pictures showing the finished floor in the main room, the installed Vortex, the new outside steps and the toilets. The toilets are now in use.
Also shown are the two pictures by the serving hatch, painted, and generously donated, by Andy Stone’s wife Julie and a recent Tuesday Club Night when players experienced the new facilities to shelter from the rain.
October – Mike completed the fitting of the loft ladder. Steve used expanded foam to fill gaps between the base blockwork and the building and Mike then helped Steve paint the blockwork and exposed steelwork with a waterproof paint. Later, Steve completed the job by gluing plastic quadrant to fill any remaining gaps. Phil organised rubbish disposal and started tidying the flowerbeds with help from other members. Still to be moved is the old bench which was craned from its old position by the army when the old container clubhouse was brought in 20 years ago. It is now very much in the way and needs to go.
November – Allders came to re-hang the French doors. They also intended to fit the security shutter but found a fault with an item so had to get that part repaired. They left the main parts inside the clubhouse. More work was done on the landscaping with Phil and Maddy moving plants to the rear flowerbed in preparation for the patio laying. Mike ordered the patio slabs and organised shifting them from the car park with help from Jim, Richard and Chris. Towards the end of the month the slabs were laid by an external contractor. They also dismantled the old bench and broke up the concrete – the old slats came in handy when laying the path to the gate.
December – Allders fitted the security shutter.
Jim, Steve, Phil & Mike used the leftover slabs to build a path between the patio and the gate and old slabs to start paving around the side of the clubhouse and front of the baby bin.
