Ladies 1 & 2 on top!

New Ladies’ Captain Alison Nicholson had a great start this summer with both Ladies Doubles teams winning their divisions.  Some of the ladies’ squad celebrated their successful summer season with some social tennis and a trip to the pub and thanked Ali for captaining with flowers and bubbly.

Last match of the summer season for Ladies 2 saw them take on local rivals Wokingham in a match to determine who topped Division 7B.  CTC 2 came out on top with a convincing win 3-1, so with 14 points will be promoted next season.  Wokingham 5 will also be promoted.

First pair Jenny Partridge partnered by Pauline Snell had a close match vs Wokingham 5’s first pair Dianne Hudson and Daphne Dunckley, but won 7-5 6-3.  On the other court, Maddy Dunckley and Wendy Miles also won, 6-4 6-2.

In the second rubber Jenny and Pauline had an easy win over their no 2s, Nancy Chipper and Ursula Sykes, and lost only one game.  However Wokingham’s first pair got a consolation win over Maddy and Wendy but it was a close match, with Maddy and Wendy losing 4 and 4.  So Crowthorne won 3-1, 6 sets to 2.

With Ladies’ 1 already having clinched the Division 4B title with their win over second placed Riseley last month, the Ladies’ 2 win meant double success for Alison who now has the challenge of working her magic with the three Mixed Doubles teams.
