For many years we have been using a small company to recycle our tennis balls. They paid us a small amount for balls received and also gave money to charities. Last year they rejected an entire consignment for various reasons, including being too worn out, so we can only conclude they have altered their guidelines on which balls are acceptable. Consequently, Sarah Mayhew has been sending them to a dog’s charity.
However, the recycling company have decided they want our balls again so Jenny Sheppard has taken over the job of collecting them, sorting them and sending them off for payment.
You will now find a container in the clubhouse kitchen for balls which are no longer fit for play. Please look in your racket bag and put any old balls you have in this container.
This provides a small income for the club as well as helping various charities. Any that Jenny thinks are unsuitable for the recycling company will still go to Sarah’s dog charity.
