Finals Day 2 – Sunday 13th October

Joe Forrester won the Handicap Singles against Russell Finch and Emma Knowles & James Brennan took the Mixed Doubles title against Ravinder Norman & Russell Finch in two entertaining matches eventually played in bright sunshine. The Men’s Singles final between Michael Harris and James Brennan will be played at a later date.

Tina Goes to Wimbledon!

Last Tuesday, 20th August 2019, one of Crowthorne Tennis Club’s top players went to Wimbledon.  Not particularly unusual, you might think, lots of us have looked round the All England Club.  But read on… Tina Stern actually played at Wimbledon!

Jenny & Tina win Handicap Doubles Final

Jenny Partridge and Tina Stern won an exciting Handicap Doubles Final against Simon Usher and Shaun Hewitt last Thursday evening by 5 games to 2.

Phillips & Blatchford retain title

John Phillips and Jon Blatchford retained their Men’s Doubles title after an hour of scintillating tennis on a damp Sunday morning at Crowthorne Tennis Club.  It was a match that anyone who was there will have been glad to have witnessed; with the bar raised high after a week of watching Wimbledon, some of the rallies had to be seen to be believed, mixing power with guile and fine technique.

Road to Wimbledon

Road to Wimbledon is the biggest junior tournament in British tennis and gives all 14U players the opportunity to progress through to compete on the world famous grass courts at Wimbledon. Local clubs, parks and schools are encouraged to enter and stage a tournament for their members/pupils rated between 10.2 and 7.1.

New Year’s Day Tournament 2019

Now with picture gallery! We were lucky with the weather this year; it was mild, and the sun even came out in the afternoon. 13 Crowthorne players were joined by 3 players from local rival club Wellington, to make up the numbers to an even 16.

Phillips and Knowles live up to billing and take Mixed Doubles Title

John Phillips and Emma Knowles started out as hot favourites against Russell Finch and Ravinder Norman, and they lived up to their billing by racing into a 4-0 lead. Russell and Ravinder fought back to take the next three games largely thanks to some expert lobbing by Ravinder, but this only made the favourites redouble their focus and take the next 8 games to run out 6-3 6-0 winners.
